This paper evaluates the influence of both the material and process conditions used to produce a small engine connecting rod. A range of materials processed by different methods are compared regarding static and dynamic performance, tolerances and cost for each process condition.
Figure 2: Connecting Rod Rectangular and I-Beam Cross-Sections With the assumed shape of the cross section for the connecting rod as shown in Figure 2(b), the cross sectional area of the I-beam section is 11 t 2. Ilia et al (2005) provide the minimum I 2 2
This becomes important if one goal is to achieve cost parity with silicon. The connecting rod is a key component for converting the reciproing power of pistons to rotational motion. As such, it needs to be light in weight to achieve optimal fuel efficiency and service life, yet the high reciprocal loads require maximum fatigue resistance.
13/4/2020· In comparison to high speed steel, carbide has better rigidity and higher heat resistance, which allows greater rotational speed. OSG’s XPF represents a new evolution in forming tap technology. This series is engineered to generate up to 50 percent less torque versus other forming taps, making it feasible to tap materials up to 35 HRC and sizes up to M45 in diameter.
12/9/1998· The idea of using filamentary composite materials to manufacture the moving parts of an automobile engine has long been attractive to automotive engine designers. Discuss the choice of these materials for one such part, the connecting rod in a four …

connecting rod of a Hero Honda Splendor has been done using FEA tool ANSYS Workbench. It is concluded that the weight of the connecting rod is also reduced by 0.477g. Thereby, reduces the inertia force. Fatigue strength is the most important driving factor
In an engine the connecting rod connects the piston to the crankshaft. Connecting rods may also convert rotating motion into reciproing motion. Generally connecting rod are manufactured using C70 steel. This Paper mainly focuses to reduce weight
Generally connecting rod is manufactured by using forging from powder metal. In this we are going to manufacture using Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) technique technique is an advanced method of manufacturing in which one is metal and other may be organic compound or ceramics.
cost aluminum alloy composites made using irregular shaped particulates of silicon carbide in the range 3-200µm diameter. use as an automobile engine component (connecting rod) [3], valves, camshafts, gear parts, suspension arms breaking system [2]. It

First of all we made a model of connecting rod using Pro-E software with standard dimensions. FEA analysis was carried out by considering two materials, one is Aluminium-360 and another is ALFA
1. The strain intensity acting on the connecting rod which is made up of carbon fiber was greater as compared with the connecting rod made up of stainless steel. 2. Connecting rod made up of aluminum alloy has higher intensity of stress, strain acted as
A challenging component in terms of stability, the connecting rod calls for a highly secure drilling operation with maximum stability. The relatively deep bolt and oil holes require long overhangs and thus a strong drill and a stable coupling solution to counter vibration tendencies and maximize productivity.
To manufacture a connecting rod including positioning grooves having a function of positioning a bearing metal at low cost. A big end part of a split type connecting rod is fractured in two after inse What is claimed is: 1. A method of manufacturing a connecting rod
Currently, existing connecting rod is manufactured by using Forged steel. In this, drawing is drafted from the calculations. A parametric model of Connecting rod is modeled using NX 10 software and to that model, analysis is carried out by using
Rod Guide Materials Historically, guides were predominately steel and sometimes were coated with chrome. Then, in the 1960''s, ceramic rings were inserted inside the rings. This eliminated the need to replace guides due to wear.It just didn''t happen. However
idea of designing connecting rod with minimum cost as well as by using different materials such as E-Glass, Epoxy, MWCNT and Aluminum. Here we are using these materials for improving various properties which are better than existing material. In general
